Brian Lowenthal, Managing Partner

Lion Valley HR Solutions was created in 2003 by Brian Lowenthal. Over the past 40 years, Brian has been a corporate executive, consultant, advisor, and business owner/entrepreneur.

As a CHRO, (first with Dots, Inc., a retail apparel company, and later with Bonne Bell Cosmetics, a consumer products company), he designed, developed, and implemented HR Strategic Plans aligned to the organization’s business strategy. He has expertise in the deployment of HR technology, has implemented HR practices that have significantly increased employee engagement and inspiration, and designed HR measurement systems that have demonstrated the ROI of HR. Brian is the architect of NOESIS, Lion Valley HR Solutions’ HR measurement system.

Brian was the first Director, Organization & Leadership Development, at Express, Inc., the largest division of The Limited. He co-facilitated, with David Norton (co-author of The Balanced Scorecard), the creation of The Limited’s first Balanced Scorecards. He was also the first Director of the Global HR Benchmarking Practice for The Hackett Group, setting the standard for all HR benchmarking processes.

As an advisor to leaders around the globe, he has worked with Fortune 100 companies, as well as start-up organizations. He was Regional Vice President for Development Dimensions International, led the global HR and Shared Services Benchmarking practices for The Hackett Group, and lead Culture Shaping initiatives for Senn Delaney, a wholly owned business unit of Heidrick & Struggles. His expertise includes HR Strategy Development, Executive Coaching, Benchmarking, Culture Shaping, Organizational Transformation, Leadership, Team, and Organizational Assessment, HR technology, Inclusion &Diversity, and Balanced Scorecards.

Over the years, Brian’s clients have included: Synovus Financial, Motorola, Starbucks Coffee Company, Carlson Companies, Mattel, Kohler Company, JP Morgan Chase, Lockheed-Martin, Hard Rock CafĂ©, Bose Corporation, Ariel Investments, KeyBank, Medical Mutual of Ohio, AIG, DTE, American Electric Power, The Ohio State University, Eli Lilly, Volunteers of America, University Hospitals, Grant Thornton-US and India, Pemex (Mexico’s state owned oil company), and Loblaw (Canada’s largest grocery retailer).

An internationally recognized speaker and author on HR Strategy, Benchmarking, Measurement, Culture Shaping, and Organization & Leadership Development, Brian has been an active member of SHRM and the HR Planning Society. He earned Bachelor of Science degrees in Business Education and Business Administration from Illinois State University, an MBA from Roosevelt University, and has taught Human Resources at Cleveland State University.
